Norwich City Council and the Homes and Community Agency (HCA, the national housing and regeneration body) have entered into a long-term formal partnership. The Norwich and HCA Strategic Partnership’s vision and overarching objective is to “deliver and strengthen sustainable communities through innovative approaches to joint working”.
This is an innovative scheme providing a range of job opportunities for the unemployed and for those who have just left training and live in the Norwich area. In addition to employment, the scheme also allows for some formally recognised on-the-job training to be given with the aim of providing sustainable employment for the future.
Any construction company working in the Norwich area with an employment vacancy can make use of the scheme. All contractors working on the City Council/HCA Partnership’s housebuilding programme are contractually obliged to use “Building Norwich Futures” to ensure that that 10% of their workforce are new labour market entrants.
The scheme provides a “One Stop Recruitment and Training Shop” to employers making recruitment easy providing:
• Work ready candidates
• Ability to source potential local candidates quickly
• Wide range of locally available training
• Low recruitment costs
